Day before the Big Move

Don't be mad...but while on "bed rest" I went with my sisters to IKEA to buy our dresser. They were ready to have me sign a waiver that they are not responsible for any contractions or trips to the hospital and they made me promise that Matthew knew they were taking me out.

Just with the short trip to Draper and back, we ended up with swollen feet and swollen hands, but we made it. Plus, we got to eat chocolate cake and princess cake in the cafeteria, yum!

We have been so grateful to our family to come help us finish up our packing so we're ready for the morning. Apparently Matthew has planned the couch to be the last thing loaded up and the first thing unloaded so I'll get to set up my throne first thing...nice.

Wish us luck in the morning!

Shhh!!

SShhhh! Ok, so I just woke up at 6:15 this morning with the worst contraction to date, don't tell Matthew, he'll freak out. But now I can't sleep and I'm wondering, is 6:30 too late in the night or too early in the morning to take another unisom?

Well, my room is light... dang! I guess I'm up.

Bed rest - Day 1

So it's Thursday evening and I'm sitting in bed with my laptop, book, cell phone, pillows, notebook, TV remote, and large mug of ice water and just completing day one of two and a half month bed rest... ouch. My behind is sore, my legs are swollen and the energy it takes to get up to the bathroom is exhausting.

Two days ago I was at work, just got back from lunch with Matthew and wasn't feeling so good. The small contractions have been a normal occurrence in my day to day life over the last month, but this was different. I knew I wasn't ok. I left work early and went to Matthew's office. I called the nurse and she told me just to go into the hospital for a non-stress test. I go in and they hook me up to baby monitors, contraction monitors, heart rate and I'm thinking "this is routine, I"ll be here an hour." Yeah right...

A few hours goes by, they call the doctor..he orders many "uncomfortable" samples and tests to be taken and the next thing I know, I'm getting a steroid shot to help the babies lungs develop, in case they come early... scary. Well, it progresses, contractions don't stop, more medications are given and now I'm being monitored till 9:00... yeah, right. By 8 pm, I'm told I'm spending the night and more medications are given...

My wonderful mother-in-law is there, while my sweet husband is home with the first set of twins, packing our house because we are moving in 4 days...

Well by this point, kids are being taken to cousins house for a sleep over, husband on his way... and I'm being served my dinner of delicious chicken brother and yellow jell-o, good stuff, seriously...

Wednesday morning... we get to take a tour of the hospital and go see the peri-natologist so she can monitor babies and recommend treatment. Doctor comes in and is willing to let me go home at 5:30 after second steroid shot is given...wait we had the time wrong, it's 7:30 for the shot...

Well by 5:00, my heart rate jumps through the roof, cannot breath and the nursing staff is in my room like a scene from ER...wait we got to go to the ER for respiratory and heart monitoring... wait I thought I was on my way home.

We got the positive results back, along with more medication to calm me and we're back in labor and delivery. Got the shot at 8:00 and clear from doctor to go home with strict bed rest instructions...

What? I have 4 year old twins, I'm moving Saturday, I work... not any more.

So here I am, logging my experience with being pregnant with my second set of twins... I wouldn't have it any other way.

Stay tuned...
