The Safe Zone

I went to the doctor today and he said we have made it to the Safe Zone. Meaning, if I end up back in the hospital any time soon, they won't try to stop contractions. Woo Hoo! Two months of bed rest down, now officially waiting for something to happen. I was talking to my friend who had her twins a few weeks ago, and she's says they're going through about 18 to 20 diapers a day... so the newborn diapers I have so far will get me about 2 plus weeks... aarrggghhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Our ward has been so great. Since we've been in the ward I have been on bed rest and they have brought us dinner twice a week every week for two months. I am absolutely amazed. Tonight, some one brought huge Fat Boy ice cream bars that the boys and I enjoyed outside. If Matthew doesn't get home from softball soon, I cannot guarantee his will still be in the freezer.
I have to go the hospital on Wednesday to check baby boy and also again next Wednesday and if he's not growing like they'd like, or if he's losing fluids, then we could have babies as early as next weekend!!! Nevermind the uncomfortableness of all this, I cannot wait to see what these babies look like and hold and kiss and love on them! We got the babies crib up and all the clothes and blankets are washed and ready to go. Now we just need LittleField's here to fill them! Yeah!!!

The Weekend's Over

This was the weekend of fun, sun, haircuts, and nose injuries.

Daddy always cuts the boys hair... well this weekend, Preston and Garrett got payback. They did a pretty good job too.
While playing outside Friday, Preston fell off his scooter and scraped his nose and knees. The nose didn't look like much then, but Saturday and Sunday morning, this is the development. (Picture of the knee band-aid taken courtesy of Preston on my phone)
Preston wasn't the only nose injury of the weekend. While a fun game of batting practice was happening in the backyard, and Matthew was pitching, he took a Garrett line drive while wearing sunglasses and they cut his nose.
Oh poor Matthew...
I sat in the lawn chair and burned the tops of my legs (no photo necessary).

It's always sad when the weekend comes to an end, but at least next weekend will be a nice 3 day weekend with the holiday. Who knows if we'll be having babies by then? The goal since going on bed rest (2 months ago!!!) has been 34 weeks, which we have officially reached today, so according to the doctor, everything else is gravy... oh gravy sounds good

News from the doctor

Well the last few days have been quite eventful. The boys are learning how to do cartwheels and are doing very well. At least there weren't any broken bones or necks, whew!
Grandma Field came over to help go through baby clothes, sort, size and wash. When Garrett heard his Grandma Field was coming to our house, he rode his scooter down to the sidewalk and waited oh, so patiently for her to come.
Today I had to go to Salt Lake to have an ultrasound. The sad thing is, while getting ready, I dropped my pick on the floor and rather than trying to bend to pick it up, I just got a new one out of the drawer... it was just easier.
The ultrasound today looked good. The baby girl now weighs 4 pounds 9 or 11 ounces (we got both measurements) but baby boy only weighs 3 pounds 9 ounces. She has gained a little over a pound and a half in a month, while he has only gained 9 ounces. Everything is ok at this point as long as in the next two weeks, he keeps growing and puts a little more weight on. They are thinking his placenta is slowing down and just plain wearing out. So, if that's the case, we could have babies very soon. We'll do another ultrasound in two weeks to check up on baby Talmage.

Happy Father's Day!

What a fun Father's Day. My handsome boys all dressed up for church. Preston had a tummy ache all morning and didn't want to go and kept asking Garrett to "please tell teacher I have a tummy ache and I'm home with mommy"... but yes, by noon he's fine and able to go.
Again we had a BBQ at the Field House and Kimball brought Harley, the cutest parrot ever. He even hides himself in Kim's shirt and says "where's Harley?" and almost giggles, knowing you can't see him. So smart.
Week 33 Update!!
The babies should be over 4 pounds each right now and have passed the 17 inch mark. (Holy cow! Let's do the math... 8 pounds of baby, over 34 inches of length, plus everything else in there! Can we say ouch?)
Their bones are hardening and they're gaining a little baby fat so they're probably looking a little more normal.
I cannot wait to see them!

We meet with the Perinatologist on Wednesday so we're hoping to hear when we can schedule the babies to come! Wish us luck!!

Long Week

So this might be a long post. Last Saturday (have I really not written a post since last Saturday? Sorry) My sweet sisters, mother-in-law and sisters-in-law threw me a diaper baby shower at Becky's house. It was so fun, we had good food, wonderful desserts and a toe nail painter come do all our toes.
Well, after a fun baby shower, in which I forgot to drink my 64-ish ounces of water... we found ourselves at the hospital in Orem later that evening. Again, results came back... dehydration. So this week I have been drinking a ton and seriously, you can feel like you're drowning, so I'm even acquiring a taste for Gatorade, grape, orange, blueberry-pomegranate. You need variety.
This week has been very quiet with trying to keep babies from coming. Our days around here consist of mom on the couch and the boys finding ways to entertain themselves. Hence, Preston found his spot on the stairs. I don't know how long he was there, working on that Buzz Lightyear video game, playing over and over to win it... and yes, he did find a way. "Mom, I won it, I did it, I really did it!"
Friday night we got to go to Grandma Field's birthday party and watch a movie outside projected on her house. It was so fun. They even took out the Lay-Z-Boy for me to be as comfortable as possible. And then... Saturday the boys got to go swimming at the pool! Best day EVER!
Talk about best day ever, I actually got to go out to dinner with my Dad, sisters and brother for Father's Day at my favorite restaurant and got to have my favorite dessert ever, the Chocolate Sonio at Carrabba's. Oh the goodness of chocolate served 3 ways! I could kiss whoever created it, or I should at least send a thank you card.

Family Gathering

Daddy and his boys...
So Preston got into "trouble" and Daddy was going to "eat" his hand off, that's normal right... look closely at the brother in the background. So sad...
Got to love trick photography that 4-year olds believe.
Don't you spend the afternoon yelling at each other?
Good times...

Baseball practice

Baseball this week had it's up's and down's.

Here's the sweetest teaching moment caught on camera.
Another with Grandpa
Like Father, Like Son, baseball is in their blood I tell you!
This is Preston's first official Baseball Card Photo.
But what's a good practice without treats after!
We had so much fun when Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Lauren came to watch practice this week. When the boy's were so tired near the end, Garrett said to Matthew, "Daddy, even when the other kids quit, I was tired, but I didn't quit." Talk about commitment!

Back to Bed Rest Basics

Over the last few days I've been quite busy for being on bed rest. I actually went to Church for an hour Sunday, that was enough that I went home quite uncomfortable. Monday I went to the doctor in Orem, again that's a long exhausting drive, then had our welcome to the ward party. Tuesday had to go back to Orem to have a form signed by Matthew, then the boys had baseball practice that night. Well Tuesday night, I paid for it. We were counting contractions for about two and a half hours, debating on whether to go into the hospital or not (yup at 2:00 in the morning, of course). They were mostly Braxton Hicks, but the consistency of them was a little unnerving. So Wednesday, the boys went to cousins and I stayed in bed all day, and the boys got to have a sleepover at Grandma's, so today is another day on official bed rest. Still a little too early to be having babies, keep your fingers crossed.

Statistics

Matthew's uncle gave us some interesting statistics today. According to worldwide statistics, every fourth child born in the world is Chinese. No wonder we can't come up with the girl's name, we haven't been looking for the right Chinese name... umm... keep your fingers crossed, we make the other three statistics.

Many Thanks

We've just had a wonderful night! We have moved into a great ward. Our new friends Valerie and Matt invited the ward to their house for a going away party for another family, and a welcome party for us! Since being on bed rest 3 days before moving into this house, I haven't been able to go to church. It was so nice having so many ward members come over and introduce themselves while I sat on Val's couch (very comfty by the way). I'm amazed! So thank you, thank you, thank you!

Lazy Saturday

What would a warm summer day be without a dip in the pool?
This is practicing "sliding into home plate."
Cause jumping into a pool helps baseball fundamentals, doesn't it?
Then haircuts so we're somewhat presentable at church tomorrow!
What an amazingly relaxing afternoon we had. Since we had a few of Matthew's co-workers over for a BBQ last night, we had cleaned the house and Matthew had done the lawn... so Saturday chores? Done! We were able to soak in the sun while the boys played in the pool. And dinner? Yup, got to love fried chicken dinners from Fresh Market! (Really we did take out because I was so hot and uncomfortable, just the thought of turning on the oven and even mildly heating up the house was not an option.)

Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

The boys of Summer!
Matthew finally has his little sluggers gearing up for the season. And let me tell you, they love baseball, just like their daddy. It's like it's in their blood or something.

Garrett, Preston and their cousins Bryson and Brynley are all in Spanish Fork's Start Smart baseball program.

Here is Garrett, Preston and Bryson practicing catching and throwing. Let's just say 4 and 5 year olds "trying" to catch in their gloves, it's adorable.

Becky and Brynley are practicing as well. This is going to be a fun season!

So I'm sitting in the lawn chair and trying not to have contractions and I get up to get the boys mits and a young mother asks: "When are you due?"
Me: "About another month or so."
Mother: "Do you know what you're having?"
Me: "a boy and a girl."
Mother: "No way! Do you have any other kids?"
Me: "Yes, this is my second set of twins. My boys are 4 and a half."
Mother: "SHUT UP!!!"
To myself: Um... yeah, I get that a lot.

Heaven in a Cup

After dinner, my sweet husband: bathed the boys, put them in bed, ran to Blockbuster, went grocery shopping and brought home a little piece of heaven. I've been out of ice cream for a week now, and needless to say, I've been getting a little "uneasy". He brought home (read slowly)... Haagen Daas, White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle Ice Cream. Are you serious? It's amazing! I didn't know they could bottle a little bit of happy like that and make everything right in the world. Yum.
